OAO Rocket and Space Corporation Energia after S.P. Korolev

OAO RSC Energia has been conducting activities in rocket-space industry since 1946 when the team of specialists developing long-range ballistic missiles was organized under the leadership of S.P. Korolev, the Chief Designer of rocket-space system and the founder of practical cosmonautics.
The enterprise initiated practically all lines of activity related to national rocket and space technology.

At the present time, OAO RSC Energia is the leading rocket-space enterprise in Russia, the head organization in the field of manned space systems. Its efforts are focused on building automatic space and rocket systems (launch vehicles and orbital transfer vehicles); high-tech, multi-use systems to be used in areas other than space.

The Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center

www.khrunichev.ru

Open space is a complicated focal point of human activities, and combining efforts and S&T potentials is a most efficient way to tackle the challenging goals of colonizing this part of the Universe. The Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center was founded on the basis of the Khrunichev Machine Building Plant and the Salyut Design Bureau by Presidential Decree on June 7, 1993. The goal was to make the production business and foreign economic relations of major space industry companies more efficient and to more actively promote Russian technologies in the international market.

Today, the Khrunichev Space Center is a premier player of both Russia’s and the international space market in the field of development and introduction into practice of new space technology solutions.Lockheed Khrunichev Energia (LKE), a joint Russia–U.S. venture established by the Khrunichev Space Center and the Energia Space Rocket Corporation on Russia’s side and Lockheed Corp. on the U.S. side, was incorporated in April 1993. It was this joint venture that offered the Proton launch vehicle in the international market. As Lockheed and Martin Marietta merged in 1994, it was quite logical that LKE continued its business as a new joint venture founded in June 1995 and named International Launch Services Inc. (ILS).

NASA

www.nasa.gov

National Authority for Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Since its inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats. NASA technology has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view the Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. While the tremendous technical and scientific accomplishments of NASA demonstrate vividly that humans can achieve previously inconceivable feats, we also are humbled by the realization that Earth is just a tiny "blue marble" in the cosmos.
